Learning Something New

What a GREAT DAY to be able to sit on the deck and read a book!
No BUGS, Blue Skies, Breezy...there will not be too many perfects days like this one today, so I took ADVANTAGE of it and PLAYED the LAZY BUM!

That is what I did AFTER cleaning up the yard, driving to Hoopers Island to take my paintings to Old Salty's to try and sell, pick-up gas for Bill's boat, clean the goat pen and THINK about washing down the front porch.

THINK ABOUT was all I got done on that chore because the MOTHER ROBIN is still sitting on her nest on the corner of the porch. She doesn't fly away too much anymore when you go in or out the door, so she is SERIOUS NOW!

I will hold off a couple more days...

Tomorrow I am at school...Middle School Math in the morning...UGH
[Mrs. Bramble is always KIND to me since she knows I am NOT THAT SMART in MATH]
and PRE-K in the afternoon...HURRAY!

I am trying something new...PAINTING ON GLASS.
I did something SIMPLE today just to get the feel of it.
This is some special GLASS PAINT I picked up on sale...
the BARGAIN BIN, but I read about Glass Painting, I know now that I can also use my ACRYLICS too.

Birdseye view

Bill just sent me a pix from the plane
[yes, he is on trip]
of HOOPERS ISLAND and Bishops Head
Can you see me waving at him
as he flew by?

See How My Garden Grows

My plan is working.
Keeping things alive may or may NOT work for me
So, my plan when I moved to the SWAMP
was to plant ONLY perennials
AFTER 5 years down here,
I can finally see my plan is working
Even this early in the SUMMER, or is it SPRING,
or some days like today it feels like FALL.

Right at the beginning of my driveway
old black iron kettle, crab basket and a broken crock

My menagerie
with some flowers in the window box

Bill planted these last weekend

All the flowers he plants seem to live
even through the winter???
These spent the whole winter
in a box in the shed,
How do he do it?

The TIDE must have brought in
BUTTERCUP seeds

Yellow Rose
I did manage to keep this alive

My old metal wheel
that Bill bought for me

Cement SWAN made down here
a lot of people have stopped and ask to buy it
they seem to have know the man who made it.
I bought it at a local yard sale

Old enamel pots
I found in the woods behind my house

Bill built this bridge over my DITCH
to walk over to the mail box

GOOD Breakfast!

A picture of the creek and tide going out.
Dark clouds were lingering.
Somebody had a GOOD Breakfast this morning.
Fresh BLUE CRAB right from the BAY!

I saw a WHITE HERON lurking around the creek
and he had a BIG GRIN on his face.
It could have been him!

When I started my walk this is what the BAY looked liked.
DARK clouds moving fast
On my way back, it was SUNNY and BLUE!

Cloudy Day

ALL KINDS OF CLOUDS TODAY!
When I went for my walk, I think I saw them all.

Lisa Marie's Mother's Day Present

Well...
I have been working on this for a couple of weeks...
even though Bill doesn't think it is PERFECT...
I think it is BEST I CAN DO...
So, if she doesn't like it, she will have to put it up
ONLY when I come for a VISIT!
HAHAHAHAHA

Only Two More Tiles GO!

I only have two more tiles to go...
AND I RAN OUT OF MORTAR!
Can you believe it?

That's OK
I was getting tired anyway.
I could hardly get UP that one last time.
YES, silly... I am doing this on my
HANDS and KNEES!

Up, Down, Up, Down, Up, Down

Then I had to put everything away.
I am teaching tomorrow so I wouldn't have worked on it anyway.

I call this one UGLY!

I call this one MIX 'n MATCH

This one is called

I Finished 8 More Tiles Today

I started at 10am and finished at 2 pm and got 8 tiles done.
Only 8 more to go.
Not too bad!

Longer than you thought? eh?

No name for this one
I just like the color of the stones

This one I call
Gingham Blue

This is my PINK GIRLIE one!

Glass Worms

I Found a BIG Feather

When I went out this morning, I found a rather LARGE feather laying in the grass.
Why it didn't blow away was surprising, since there is a BREEZE outside today.

I bent over and picked it up and stuck into Ms. Dora's Rose Pot.
Yes, I have managed to keep Ms. Dora's YELLOW ROSE plant a live!
This will be the second summer I have owned it.

Ms. Dora's daughter Lois Ann gave it to me after Ms. Dora passed.
Last Tuesday, Lois Ann passed too.
Her passing was very UNEXPECTED!

When I came in, I thought, I wonder if finding a FEATHER means anything?

Look what I found.

Feathers are lucky when you find them.
They could also be a hello from a dead loved one.

Good thing I am not SUPERSTITIOUS!
But, Ms. Dora MIGHT be speaking to me!

To have a robin nest in your house,
represents new beginnings and time for growth.
This robin has nested on Bill's fishing rods.

GOATS!

The goats had a GREAT weekend.
The grass in the backyard needed to be cut
and since the GOATS have done
such a nice job in their pen,
I let them out in the back yard for a while.
They had a WILD TIME!

First, Dora Goat HAD
to jump up on the NEW cushions, first thing!

Then, she HAD to begin eating
the spine of my book!

She SCREAMED and YELLED until Bill
HAND FED HER!

She will stand next to you
for hours if you just KEEP petting her!

Oh by the way...
they still have a lot of work to do
in the backyard!

A Very Nice Letter

It always surprises me when I receive a NOTE
from someone I have never met!
I LOVE IT!
Of course, I have no IDEA who is reading
what I am BLOGGING!
But I am GLAD it is ALL of YOU!
Hey Swampbonnie,
I was just reading about Snook's.
He is my grandmother's brother.
I love the picture's that you put up from "down home" as my family call it.
I have alway's loved it down there.
I still go down there from time to time as
I have many family member's that live down there.
Keep posting good picture's from down there.
Thank's again,
Robert W. Bullen
Robert-
Thanx!!
Everyone loves Snooks. What a great guy he is.
He takes such good care of Everyone down here.
His fun personality is priceless.
His smile is the only thing I ever see.
Doris Jean is a fantastic cook. The best oyster fritters ever!!
And to just share those gems is a treat.
Come back for a visit.
This wonderful place is dying and being forgotten.
We see losing these priceless treasures every day.

I Taught 3 Days this Week

I haven't been on the computer for a few days.
I had a 3 day stretch teaching.
Today was SECOND GRADE.
What a GREAT bunch of KIDS and we had a BLAST!

I have also been working on my side walk in the evening.
I d0 four of the BROKEN tiles each evening.
And I am still NOT done!

When it is finished there will be 34 tiles
I have 20 DONE!
I guess that is not too bad!

I am posting a PIX of the NEW EXTERIOR
of the BEACH HOUSE.
Looks different eh?
All of the owners FINALLY got it together to get it done.

It actually needed it!
There was a LOT of rotting wood, chipped paint etc.
I felt the DECK was unsafe, but now it is BRAND NEW!

When are you going down?

Isn't SHE PRETTY?

FIRST PEEK

Here is the first peek of my NEW SIDEWALK.
I am still in a learning curve...
and it is TRULY NOT PERFECT!
But so far so GOOD!

My front sidewalk was a MESS!
From the BRACKISH High Tides
to throwing SALT down this winter,
it had taken a VERY BAD HIT!

I should have taken BEFORE pixs,
but, you know me, I never can think
that far ahead or behind.

I am using FOUND STUFF
and GLASS BEADS from the
DOLLAR STORE.

Friends have SAVED things for me
for a couple of
YEARS now.

Gail saves glass beads,
and found objects for me.
She is MY PERSONAL SHOPPER
and a DAMN GOOD ONE!

Susan saved the HUGE Ceramic tiles
from the local dump!
Yes, she is my
PARTNER in
DUMPSTER DUMPING!
But, she is
MUCH BETTER than me!

THANX to BILL
for teaching me how to mix the MORTAR
and helping me with a STRATEGY
that would
NOT send me
SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL
He hates when that happens!

Note EVEN half-way done!

WELCOME TO THE MARSH
Finished that one YEARS AGO!
