PLAGUED Today!

Well, I got up early to try and get my back steps down.
Since the sidewalk came out so nice,
I thought I would do the concrete steps in the back
that walk onto the deck.
But I was PLAGUED!

I sat out on the deck and drank my tea
and read my book until about 7:30
NO PROBLEMS!

So, decided to
START!
Changed into my
MAKE A MESS clothes,
got everything out
made the mortar
AND...

The Deer Flies, a.k.a. Horse Flies,
Strawberry Flies were OUT!
I mean it, these are
MONSTERS!
Not only are they
HUGE
but they BITE!!

So, when I couldn't take it any longer
I packed everything up and ran inside.
They don't bother you in the shade
just when you are out in the sun.
They will not be around too long
so that is a good thing.

I waited until the sun moved around
to the front of the house and finished!

Not quite a pretty and I had in my
MINDS EYE
but I was BLINDED there for a while!

It's different and it is ME!

No one else steps like these!

Swamp Monsters

Today was a very NOISY day around here.
A Mocking Bird sang ALL MORNING.
He had quite the repertoire
over and over and over...

Then a GREEN TREE FROG started this evening.

And they can be LOUD
You cannot tell where the noise is coming from
I once kept hearing one and Bill found it in the cabinet.
I am pretty sure this one is still outside.

Quite the LAZY SUNDAY

The day has been VERY LAZY.
We have been watching some really strange clouds go by today
but they yielded no rain. Some were dark and bad looking and
some white and fluffy with BIG thunderheads.

But, Bill and I managed to get a couple of things accomplished.

I planted a new plant in
CONGO BONGO,
He looks much happier

Bill created a shelf and quilt hanger
for me out of a piece of OLD WINDOW SHUTTER
that floated up the creek early this Spring.

Bill and I were out for a walk after
a high tide to see what we could see.
I think we were actually looking for soft crabs.

Bill has a KNACK for creating really nice
decorative pieces out of JUNK.
Neither of us consider an old window shutter
with original hardware and handmade nails as JUNK.

The quilt is my mother's BABY QUILT
from when she was a child.

Another Project Started

I started another project this afternoon.
More PAINTED CHAIRS!
I got the BASE COAT on them and now
they will dry overnight or a day or two.

I coated them with a sticky OIL BASE paint
since I am planning to use them on the deck.

I will be working on the design now
Probably SUNFLOWERS!

This chair I PLUCKED
from the DUMPSTER!

I bought this one at a
YARD SALE in Church Creek

A WONDERFUL EVENING!

Saturday evening I got a call from Eric asking
if I could BABYSIT Sunday Night.

OF COURSE!

So I packed by bag and jumped in the car
and headed across the BRIDGE!

The BOY'S mom and dad were going to get to
go to an ADULT CONCERT [Sugarland] without them!
WOW!!! What a treat!

So, the BOYS and I played in the mud, took a walk,
went swinging in the swings, slid down the sliding board,
ate HUMMUS and fresh pears!

Papap came over after he finished working on the
and ate some HUMMUS too!

We watched BUFFALO's head-butt each other and
ELEPHANTS on the ANIMAL PLANET.

We also saw a FUNNY commercial about SIX FLAGS
with that CRAZY DANCING OLD MAN
that made BRADY laugh and dance!

Then I got to ROCK both BOYS to sleep!
That was so SPECIAL!

Just Like A Vacation Day

Today was just like a vacation day.
WOW!

We woke up and had a cup of tea on the deck.
Bill then worked on his fishing lures and I did a crossword puzzle.
The EAGLES were flying over head and I watched my goats graze in their small field [a.k.a. my backyard].

Then Bill grabbed the crossword puzzle book and we did crossword puzzled together.
Ms. Elaine stopped by and reminded us that the WINGATE CHURCH was having a YARD SALE.

We jumped in the car and went down and bought breakfast, which consisted of HOTDOGS, CHILI and a PEPSI. That is very much on our MENU.
We LOVE hot dogs!

I also bought a little SWAN PLANTER and set it in my BIRD BATH. We also bought a PINEAPPLE CAKE with WHITE CREME ICING! Something else that is not of a BIG surprise for us!

A mutual friend [Jan] from Alaska who is visiting the SIMMONS, called and we went down down to Ms. Elaine's and eat OYSTER sandwiches and eat the CAKE we bought at the YARD SALE.

OMG, the cake was DELICIOUS!!!

Bill, Jan and I decided to WALK off some of the CAKE and go visit an house that Jan's family use to rent out for summer when she was a kid.

The house is MELTING into the SWAMP, very sad.

Bill and I walked back home, sat on the porch, Bill took a SMALL NAP and I did another crossword puzzle. Bill is out fishing right now on a SLACK TIDE, hoping to catch a good size ROCK. I know he would like to grill one for dinner. BUT, it is ONLY MAY!

Swarming Butterflies

Red Admiral Butterflies
are swarming all around the house

Habitat

Red Admirals tend to be found in moist environments such as marshes, woods, fields, and well-watered gardens. These butterflies cannot stand extreme winter cold and are forced to migrate southward during the winter months to warmer climates. During this migration they can be found in habitats ranging from subtropics to tundras. The caterpillars of this species live on the plants they feed on.
DUH...No wonder they are flying around here...they were even buzzing around my head.

HONEYSUCKLE!

BILL SAYS
HONEYSUCKLE
is the NAME of the FLOWER!

And I think he is RIGHT!!

An Evening Walk

I usually walk in the morning.
But this week has been windy, cold and
I just haven't got out there.
So tonight I went for a walk just at sunset.
There was NO PRETTY SUNSET though...cloudy!

YEE GADS...Stay Away
Poison Ivy

Someone had an OYSTER Feast

Juniper Berries

The name just flew out of my mind...
I know the name...
they smell so good...
DARN...

Pretty White flowers
I have no idea of the name of this one.

Glad to Sleep in My OWN Bed

Me and My Mom
Now you can see why Bill calls me
a APPLE HEAD.

After 4 nights and 4 days away from the SWAMP
I am GLAD to be home!
It all began Thursday morning when I drove across
the Bay bridge to see Brady and Benny Max.

We had a good time playing outside and going for walks.
On Friday I went to see ARIANA.
She is a FUNNY little girl!

We went to the playground
and to TOYS R US!

Saturday I drove to Uniontown
for my mother's birthday and Mother's Day.
I had to stop in Cumberland
to recover from the early drive.

I got to Uniontown around noon, I think.
It was WINDY and COLD and of course
when I left the SWAMP it was warm and sunny.

Everyone up in the MOUNTAINS are good.
The KIDS are all so TALL and are growing.
Riley is the same age as Brady and he is SO CUTE!

I spent Sunday night at my Aunt's house in
Hopwood because I wanted to leave early
and she is an early riser like me.

Monday morning, I was back on the road
by 7 am and made it to Fredrick, right on schedule
to meet Gail at 9:30 at Bob Evans.

On the drive back to the SWAMP,
I stopped at "THE BOYS" house to pick up
Sparky and I was OFF again!

I drove into the driveway at 8 pm
and was in MY OWN BED by 11:00!
What a WHIRLWIND!

Brady Eats CALAMARI!

Brady and Benny Max
came for a visit to see PAPAP's boat!

Brady and Papap ordered
CALMARI for an Appetizer!

We ate at Nick's Fish House in Baltimore
The BOYS were VERY GOOD!
