I am BACK!

Well, Jury Duty was a
COMPLETE LET DOWN!

Nothing happened except we had to sit
in a room with 100 people
on little hard chairs and wait!

I did get to read my book from
9:00 am till NOON

FINALLY,
I judge came down to apologize.

The DEFENDANT didn't show!

How's that possible you say?
She passed her PSYCHE TEST
after firing 5 lawyers and
deciding to represent herself!

SMART COOKIE!!
Then don't show!

They are out looking for her now!

ANYWAY...
I took my $15 Jury Duty salary
and bought myself a PIZZA

UMMMMM!!!!

Stop Thinking...

Stop thinking that I am
Just sitting around eating
BON-BONS because
I AM NOT!!

I have been PAINTING
everyday. But I cannot
Show you all of them
Some are surprises!!

Some went straight in
The TRASH!!

By the way...
What are BON-BONS anyway??

Well, My Bags Are Packed

The suitcase is all zipped up
and I am ready to go

When you travel with GAIL
you are assured FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY
This is WHAT Gail does!
HURRAY for GAIL!

We leave BALTIMORE on Sunday Halloween Night
First we have 2 days at sea
Don't worry the SHIP has TOO MUCH TO DO!

Our first Port of Call is Cape Canaveral, Florida
Since my brother lives in Titusville
I am hoping to hook up with him for
some lunch or dinner

Then off for 2 days in the BAHAMAS
One day in Nassau
One day in Freeport

This will be my THIRD time to the Bahamas [Nassau]
We booked a day at the ATLANTIS Hotel
My daughter and her hubby went there on the
same excursion and they had a blast.

Bill just spent a week at the Atlantis
working of course :(

Never been to FREEPORT but going with GAIL
will mean the BEACH and SHOPPING

Then two days at seas while we sail back to Baltimore.
This will be my FIRST Sail out of BALTIMORE.

The marina where Bill lives on our ANDIAMO
is the next PIER over from Carnival Cruise Lines.
So, he watches the ships come in and leave
from the deck of the ANDIAMO

I am driving up to Baltimore on Saturday
and spend the day with the BOYS

The plan is for Gail to pick me up at their house
and off to Baltimore we go.

Bill's plan is to drive straight to Bishop's Head
Friday night to take care of the animals for the weekend
PLUS
I would not want to ask him to give up a weekend
when he could be fishing on the BAY
He lives for THAT!

Gail and I will share the cost of WiFi
on the ship so you will hear from us as we sail!

Our suite with a balcony

HALLOWEEN PARTY!

The HALLOWEEN PARTY
was a HUGE SUCCESS!

Everyone had a
GREAT TIME!

Bill Says NO

He wouldn't let me near the little that was left in the paint can. He
is finishing up what I started yesterday before the BIG SPILL

BUT he also told me he WAS NOT going to continue to deal with my
MESSES. I will have to buy another gallon and continue on.

WHAT A GUY!!

My Latest

I painted this yesterday
AFTER I made the MESS
ON THE DECK :(

I LOVE IT
they are fairly new colors for me.

I AM DONE FOR THE DAY

Dammit!!
I just spilled a whole gallon of WHITE PAINT on my deck.
It happens everytime I paint from the can. Bill has seen it happened
before.
WHY?
I am going to sit on the corner and calm down.

Going Out Tonite

I am going out tonite and watch for the METEOR SHOWER.
Suppose to start at 11:00pm
I will let you know if I see any.

Sticking With My Gala's!!

Ariana and Lisa have been talking about
a new apple I have not heard of.
the HONEYCRISP APPLE
So, I bought some today.

I am an APPLE SNOB.
I only eat one variety at a time.
Yes, that's right I do not mix my apples.

I have OTHER QUIRKS...but that is for
ANOTHER TIME!

I LOVE APPLES, but NOT ALL apples.
Like I really DO NOT like RED DELICIOUS :(
I try and eat an APPLE EVERYDAY
just because they taste good
and are HANDY!

For years, when I was young,
I only ate YELLOW DELICIOUS
Then when my kids were growing up
I changed to GRANNY SMITH

In the past few years, only GALA APPLES

Now, I have tried HONEYCRISP APPLE
AND...
They are GOOD!

But I will stick to my GALA'S!!
For now!

The first Gala apple tree
was one of many seedlings resulting from a cross
planted in New Zealand in the 1930s

The Honeycrisp apple
was produced from a 1960 cross of a
Macoun and Honeygold,
as part of the University of Minnesota
apple breeding program.

My HALLOWEENERS!

Is that a WORD?
HALLOWEENER??
That is what we called them when we were kids.

Brady as the KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR!
Benny Max as a WOOF WOOF...DOG!
Ariana as ELMO!

Ariana LOVES Elmo!

the SWAMP KIDS!

I have been going EVERY YEAR
to PAINT FACES and help out
This year I was asked to
PAINT THE PUMPKIN
The kids will have to
GUESS THE WEIGHT to win it!

EVERYONE is INVITED

Just Heard the NEWS

We got a telephone call this morning that
the LAST HOUSE on HOLLANDS ISLAND
fell last night into the CHESAPEAKE BAY.

Bill took me there earlier this summer
at least I got to see it.
A lot of my neighbors family came from
HOLLANDS ISLAND and actually had their
house MOVED to BISHOPS HEAD
by barge up the creek by Ms. Dora's house.

One of those houses is where Ms. Elaine lives.
It was moved by her grandfather.

Below are the pixs we took this summer

Settled in the last decades of the 1600s, Holland Island reached its peak population between 1890 and 1910. By 1910 approximately 360 people lived on the distinct ridges of high ground.

There were several general stores, a grade school, church, Red Men's Hall, post office, a full-time doctor and minister, and a thriving fleet of workboats, including schooners and 55 skipjacks.

There were more than 60 homes on the island. The typical home was roomy with many windows for the family to keep an eye on the sails of the boats working in the distance and to provide light during the daylight hours.

Starting to Come Together

My window project is starting to come together.
Bill built the first frame for the windows
that acts as a PRIVACY SCREEN
in front of the hot tub.

He also hung two LARGER windows
which I have not painted yet.
The long pole you see above the windows will be framed
and windows will hang above up there.
They will act as a sun shade screen on
the far side of the hot tub.

You might have to wait until we have it completed
to get the whole effect. Also, the entire framework
will be painted white.

Guess you just better wait
until I an done to understand.

Sorry about editing these BLOGS
for some reason my IPHONE has been giving
me trouble when I send from it
Worked all summer...????

Bill's Present [Try Again!]

Bill loved his SKIPJACK CLOCK
I got it at a local Yard Sale
It was made by a local craftsman
Where would I ever found another one?

The skipjack is a type of sailboat developed
on the
Chesapeake Bay for oyster dredging.
It succeeded the
bugeye as the chief oystering boat
on the bay, and remains in service due to laws
restricting the use of
powerboats in the Maryland state oyster fishery.

My Working Man

Bill got back from his working trip in the Bahamas last night.

This afternoon he started building the frame for my window project.

He took time out to go to our local church's homecoming and covered
dish.

Can't wait for you to see the window project complete. I still have a
lot of windows to paint.

IN THE NEWS!

to see me in THE HEADLINES!

Well, I no longer live in the
BIG CITY
so you have to think smaller
when you HIT THE BIG TIME!!

They even used my PICTURES!
See, that BS in JOURNALISM
did PAY OFF!

Aren't YOU proud of me?
HAHAHAHAHA!

Can't Help It

These sunsets hypnotize me!

I Was Up Early

Started out early.
Robin picked me up at 7:00am and off we went.
Some food shopping, an APPLE FESTIVAL with yard sale tables, a few a
long the side if the road YARD SALES, Oyster sandwiches, BBQ Chicken,
homemade APPLE PIE with Ice Cream.
What a day
FUN!!
A special treasure for Bill
I will show you after he sees it FIRST.

Cold and Windy

The wind blew hard all night
This morning when I took a short bike ride the BAY looked dark and mean.

I had my iPhone camera so I couldn't zoom in on the white caps blowing
out there.

It is still very windy.

Bittersweet

Being a grandma has it's BITTERSWEET days.

Like when Benny Max calls you and you hear his little voice say
"grandma love you" and you are not home to hear him and say it back.

I didn't have jury duty today but I go to school. So I missed Benny's
call.

His mom told me that when the doorbell rang today he told her "grandma
is here"

This jury duty system is not allowing me to rush right up there and
make it so.

Sorry Benny
Grandma lives you too!!

Just Lying Around

On this BEAUTIFUL
FALL DAY'n

I Have Been Waiting

I have been waiting all summer for this "weed" as Lisa called it when
she was visiting, to BLOOM!!

Well, it looks like it will burst tomorrow.
It is very tall with just blooms on the top. I have no idea what it is.

I will show you tomorrow.

Busy Doing Nothing

That's right
I was busy doing nothing all day
Got the grass cut for the last time this year...I hope.
Went for a bike ride.
Vacuumed the house
Read my book
Sat outside.

The sitting outside part took most of the day. It was such a beautiful
day I didn't want to miss it in case it was the last.

Last of the week, I mean.

No jury duty tomorrow
It is hard to believe I have to call in every night to get the message
if I have to show up at the court house.

It is putting a damper on my "make it up as I go" lifestyle.

Trying Something NEW

NO JURY DUTY TODAY
or TOMORROW!

I am STILL playing with my WINDOWS
I did a SKIPJACK today and
it look REALLY PLAIN
After all it is a WHITE SAILBOAT
with WHITE CLOUDS
BLUE SKY and
BLUE WATER
B-O-R-I-N-G!!

So, I decided to ETCH on the glass
I still have a LOT TO LEARN
and get the CONCEPT in my HEAD
But I think this will fit in the
scheme of things for the
PAINTED WINDOW PROJECT!

You can see a little of the etching in this PIX
Natural light will come through
the etching I have carved out
The clouds are ETCHED out too
they look BLACK but they are NOT

Here is a CLOSE-UP view
The WATER and the SKY
I think the ETCHING
creates a SPARKLE
and INTEREST

You all will understand better
when the PROJECT is FINISHED!

WEATHER for the BAHAMAS

I was checking the weather for BILL
since he is working in the
BAHAMAS this week

LOOKS like the weather here in
TODDVILLE will be AS NICE or BETTER
than down in the CARIBBEAN!

Bill will be working ANYWAY
Chances are he will not
leave the HOTEL anyway

BUT, it looks like
I WILL BE OUTSIDE
ALL DAY...AGAIN!!

JAN'S HERE!

Jan, a friend of the SIMMONS
and now a friend of ours
is visiting from ALASKA!

As a child, her family would come
down to BISHOPS HEAD on vacation.
She and the SIMMONS kids have been
friends for many years

Now, Jan comes for a visit when
she comes back EAST.
Ms. Elaine COOKED and we
are STUFFED!

See you NEXT YEAR, JAN!

Jan and Robin

Susan
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN
the BIG 60!

There, How's That?

She is at church
So when she gets home
She will be SURPRISED!!

Another Treasure

One of my Old Ladies"
Had thrown this out
Her husband had made it
I think I am going to fill it with
Flowers and put it back in her
Yard as a SURPRISE!!

Another Window Done

Not one of my favorites so far
Very abstract and Van Gogh
But I think in the scheme of the project
It will look GOOD
a long way to go!!

The "BOYS" Fall 2010

The "BOYS"
just got their
PORTRAITS taken
How good are THESE PIXS??

I created COLLAGES
from all the shots

That's them!
